The following news was distributed by the Village of Bloomingdale on September 27th, 2017 – it is represented below verbatim.
The Village of Bloomingdale recently received a submittal from K-Hovanian Homes for a 535-unit age-restricted (55 and older) development for the former Indian Lakes golf course property. Village Staff is working diligently sorting through and analyzing the documents, but due to the size of the submittal will need to engage the assistance of several consultants to help with the review in multiple areas of the process. The Village is currently working to determine a timeline for the process that will then be shared with residents. To help residents interested in the development the Village, in addition to the related public meetings posted in the Community Calendar on the Village website, will also create a webpage that will serve as an information portal containing various project documents.
Mayor Franco and the Village Board have continually stated the Village will not be making any redevelopment decisions without significant input from Village residents. As part of any golf course redevelopment, the Village will seek to balance the often competing interests of the golf course owner, the developer, the surrounding residents, and the Village. During this process, the Village will be guided by its obligation to maintain the zoning integrity of the surrounding residential properties along the golf course and its commitment to preserve the open space nature of the property contemplated under the Village’s Comprehensive Plan.
As the Village moves forward in its discussions, residents are encouraged to visit the Village website page and reach out to Village Administrator Pietro Scalera at firstname.lastname@example.org to share your ideas and concerns regarding the future of the Indian Lakes Golf Course.
